July 30, 2019 Special Meeting

We will begin at 6:30pm in the City Hall Boardroom at City Hall.

We have two Resolutions to vote on:

Resolution 2019-105, Nondisclosure Agreement for Information Exempt from Public Disclosure Under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, between Lake County Property Appraiser and City of Mount Dora. As a result of changes to Florida Statute 119.071(4)(d) and the new definition of "home address" for parcels that are blocked from public records disclosure, the Property Appraiser is requesting the City use only the "confidential" parcel information for the purposes of collecting non-ad valorem assessments. The purpose of Florida Statute Chapter 119.071 is to protect certain public officials from having their home address, phone numbers, etc. supplied in public records. Some examples would include police officers and their families, judges and their families, firefighters and their families, Department of Children and Families investigators and their families, etc.

Resolution 2019-96, Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget. This vote is to approve the City's recommended Tentative Millage Rate at $7.0000 mils. Our current millage rate is $6.3000 In order to see how this will affect your individual tax bill go to the Property Appraiser's Website here. From that page you have to click "I AGREE". Then enter your last name and street name and hit enter. Once you click on your home from the search results click on the button for Proposed Tax Notice (shown in the picture here).

Keep in mind, from what I can tell the Taxable Value on your Proposed Tax notice does NOT yet include the almost 10% increase in Taxable Value for next year. If you need any help figuring this out for your home just call me.

This vote is for a Tentative rate, this is not the final vote on millage rate. However, please note the adopted tentative millage rates of our surrounding cities for 2019-20:

Eustis Current Rate: 7.5810 Tentative: 7.5810

Tavares Current Rate: 7.4171 Tentative: 6.9500

Leesburg Current Rate: 4.2678 Tentative: 4.2678 (as reported in Daily Commercial)

Clermont Current Rate: 4.2061 Tentative: 4.2061

If you have any questions or need clarification on any of this please just ask me. It can be very confusing. See you all at 6:30pm on Tuesday at City Hall. If ever you wish to express your thoughts about an item coming before City Council and wish to reach out to your entire City Council you may email the entire Council as a whole or individually by visiting the contact page on the City's website here.

Hope you have a wonderful day.
